Addition within 10 mystery picture worksheets
Worksheets with addition within 10 only, no subtraction. The answer is the row on a 10×10 grid and the letter next to the problem is the column. Solve everything correctly and a picture appears.
What the worksheets practice
- Adding two numbers within 10, for example
3 + 4. - Adding three numbers, for example
2 + 3 + 1. - Problems with zero (
0 + 1) only as a fallback for rows with a small answer.
The answer is always a row number, so 10 at most. There is no regrouping.

Which grid and picture to choose
Sums stay within 10, so only the 10×10 grid is available. Only pictures that can be built without repeating a problem are offered: an answer of 1 or 2 has very few sums, so the top rows of the picture cannot have many squares.
There are 15 pictures to choose from (8 black-and-white, 7 in color). Depending on the picture, one worksheet has 26–67 problems.
Addition within 10 worksheet FAQ
Why are there fewer pictures than for grade 1?
The answer sets the row. An answer of 1 or 2 has only a few different sums, so only pictures with few squares in the top rows are offered. The grade 1 page mixes addition and subtraction and has more pictures.
