Two-digit subtraction mystery picture worksheets
Worksheets with subtraction within 100 only. Children subtract two-digit numbers, the answer is the row and the letter is the column. Correctly shaded squares build a picture.
What the worksheets practice

The answer is a row number (18 at most), so numbers to 100 appear in the problems: children subtract two close numbers and have to watch both tens and ones.

Which grid and picture to choose
All three grids work. The 18×18 grid has the most problems and the most detailed picture.
There are 118 pictures to choose from (59 black-and-white, 59 in color). Depending on the picture, one worksheet has 22–110 problems.
Subtraction within 100 worksheet FAQ
Why is the answer never above 18?
The answer sets the grid row, and the largest grid has 18 rows. Numbers to 100 are practiced in the problems instead, for example 64 − 52 = 12.
Is there regrouping?
Yes, for example 52 − 47 = 5. Each sheet mixes problems with and without regrouping.
